| In Memoriam - Dennis
Michael Mize September 15, 1956 - March 13, 2006 Pics of miniatures from painters who have collected the works of Dennis (FYI - Most of these are not Dark Sword pieces). We have a number of those in our Fan Gallery Sections for each artist (Elmore, Parkinson, etc.) Click Here to Return to the Dark Sword Miniatures Home Page I would ask all the painters out there to send in their pics of Dennis Mize painted pieces to me via the email address below. I will post them up on this Dennis Mize page for everyone to see. His family would get a kick out of seeing his work beyond what is on this site. Please send in your Dennis Mize painted pics to: jludwig@DarkSwordMiniatures.com
This was painted by: Alison Scheirman. She is our newest staff painter. She will be joining the talented brushes of Mr. Verzani and Susan Wachowski on our miniatures. http://www.spiritone.com/~devo |

A wonderful piece done up in honor of Dennis Mize by Rhonda Bender. The following text came with the pics: The figure is Dena the Barbarian from Reaper Miniatures, and Ive mentally titled the scene Dena Honours Her Creator.
Thank you for the information you have shared with the community regarding Dennis Mizes life and work; I have really appreciated learning more about him. Also, please let me offer my condolences. While I mourn Mr. Mizes passing for the loss of all the wonderful future art he might have created for the community, I did not know him personally. You have lost a friend and a business associate, and my sympathies go out to you and his other friends and family. Your tribute page and forum topic are very moving, thank you for sharing your thoughts and impressions and for giving the community a place to mourn.
As much as I have liked and been collecting Mize figures for the past three years, I didnt realize how many of my personal painting milestones he connected to until recently. The very first figure I ever painted was a copy of the Green Witch you supplied to the Paint n Take at GenCon 2003. That experience was enough to convince me to try miniature painting as a hobby. The very first female figure I ever completed was Dennis Laurana the Sorceress, and thats still one of my favourite sculpts. The first serious painting prize I was fortunate enough to win was for a rendition of Dennis Witch of the Darkmoors. I dont think Ive truly done justice to one of his figures yet, but I plan to continue to try.
